The Near Field Christ was an inspiration from our Lord Jesus in mid 2021. There are 2030 individual chips on this painting. Each chip has Book, Chapter, Verse and Scripture. All Red-Letter bible verses from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Corinthians, and Revelations using the King James Version of the Bible.
I was focused on taking our twin granddaughters out for hiking and geocaching adventures. We would pick different areas around home and when we traveled and tried to find these hidden containers. Geocaching is a great way to get outside and to learn about new areas that you would have never discovered. Besides that, it is really a free activity.
During this time, I stumbled on the NFC technology and how it is embedded on the chips and how our smart phones use them. I wanted to know how I could use this technology with geocaching and if I could create some form of new take-off on geocaching with NFC. I prayed and waited for guidance and was shown a way. I call it an answer to prayer. We still go geocaching when the weather is nice.
I took about a year off from working on the project during 2023. Too many other priorities ranging from homework, karate and cheer practice for the twins, my job, etc. Those distractions finally got worked out and I was able to get back to the project in January of 2024.
I am a former US Marine. I spent 16 years as a Marine. I met my wife Paulette while training at Fort Lee (now Fort Greg-Adams)Virginia. Paulette and I have been raising our twin great grandchildren since they were 4. We have had grandchildren and great grandchildren in our home almost every weekend over the past 25 years. We have a cat named Golden and two Yorkshire terriers named Scout and Willow.
If this becomes a success, my goals are to found a workshop for disadvantaged teenagers. Focusing on building their handyman skills and building their faith at the same time. I have seen firsthand what little our schools and absentee fathers have done for our youth (our future). I’ve had this dream for the past few years and hope to fulfill it soon. Your donations will help get the Near Field Christ noticed and possibly make the workshop a reality.
My vision is to see people from all over reading their first words from the Bible and getting to know Jesus. There is an iPhone app that will read and display the chips in an easy-to-read format. Although the chips are written in the KJV, they are formatted so that a specific phone app can display it into their language and bible version of choice. That is the design, that modification to this app is yet to be written.
